On November 24, the national commendation meeting for model workers and advanced workers was held in the Great Hall of the people in Beijing. Academician Liu Wenqing, director of Anhui Institute of Optics and mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences and chief scientist of Qingdao Leice Transient technology Co., Ltd., was awarded the title of "national advanced worker" and was commended at the meeting.


Academician Liu Wenqing, aiming at the international frontier of environmental science and technology and the national major demand for environmental problems, took the lead in systematically carrying out the cross integration innovation research of Optics and Environmental Science in China, opened up a new field of Environmental Optics in China, and developed a new method of environmental optical monitoring, successfully developed a series of advanced environmental monitoring technology and equipment, greatly improving the level of domestic environmental monitoring technology and equipment.


Academician Liu has built a comprehensive three-dimensional monitoring system for atmospheric environment from ultraviolet, visible light to infrared full spectrum bands, from ground-based, airborne to satellite platform by using self-developed high-tech atmospheric environment monitoring technology; has developed a series of atmospheric environment monitoring technical equipment and realized industrialization, which has been applied to China's environmental protection and meteorological operational atmospheric environment monitoring network in batches, and promoted domestic industrial technology. As the chief designer of GaoFen-5 satellite payload development team, he led the team to complete the research and development of the atmospheric environment detection payload of China's first hyperspectral resolution atmospheric environment observation satellite (GF-5).


Since the outbreak of COVID-19, Liu Wenqing led the Anhui atmospheric environment triad experimental team of the optical and Mechanical Institute with 7 sets of independently-developed environmental monitoring equipment, went back to Wuhan on February 28th. Through the navigation monitoring, the experimental team provides scientific and technological support for the risk assessment of virus transmission and the analysis of environmental impact factors. Over the years, Liu Wenqing's team has served many times in the air quality assurance tasks of major national events such as the Olympic Games, World Expo, Asian Games, APEC summit, 93rd ceremony parade, G20 summit, BRICs leaders' meeting and other major national activities. The core technologies developed by Liu Wenqing focus on solving outstanding environmental problems, implementing the "ten national regulations" on the atmosphere, the premier's special "causes and control of atmospheric heavy pollution" and It has played an important role in the monitoring and control of environmental pollution in China, and provided scientific basis and technical support for firmly winning the battle of pollution prevention and control.
