On March 28, the China Meteorological Administration released the "Top Ten Meteorological Science and Technology Progress in China" for 2023, and the "Tibetan Plateau Multi-layer Earth-Air Interaction Three-dimensional Comprehensive Observation Research Platform" participated in the construction of the Laser Detection Core was successfully selected.

"China's Top Ten Meteorological Science and Technology Progress" aims to timely reflect the frontier and latest progress in the field of meteorological science and technology in my country, promote meteorological science and technology achievements, lead and encourage meteorological science and technology innovation, create an innovative atmosphere, and gather forces to accelerate the modernization of meteorological science and technology capabilities and the modernization of social services.


As the roof of the world and the water tower of Asia, the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is an important ecological security barrier and strategic resource reserve base for my country. As a sensitive area and natural laboratory for global climate change, the Tibetan Plateau affects the energy cycle and water cycle in all circles of the earth. Its thermal and dynamic effects have an important impact on human production and life on the plateau and its downstream areas, the Asian monsoon, and even global atmospheric circulation. and weather climate have a decisive influence.

Comprehensive Stereo Observation Network Platform (TPEITORP)


The Tibetan Plateau Multi-sphere Earth-Air Interaction Comprehensive Stereo Observation Research Platform is an important component of my country's Third Pole Region Multi-sphere Earth-Atmosphere Comprehensive Stereo Observation Network Platform (TPEITORP), covering the typical characteristic meteorological areas of the Tibetan Plateau. With the support and guidance of the Tibetan Plateau Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Laser Testing and the user team worked together to overcome the harsh natural environment and weather and other unfavorable factors in extremely high altitude areas, overcome difficulties, and use the Wind3D series independently developed by the company to produce national products. We have used Doppler wind lidar, completed the equipment deployment and network platform access of multiple observation sites, and established the highest altitude and largest wind field and flux observation lidar in the country and even the world. The volume monitoring network can improve the data acquisition and analysis capabilities of scientific researchers in the fields of atmospheric wind field structure, atmospheric boundary layer structure, regional turbulence, aerosol characteristics and material/momentum fluxes, and provide numerical and numerical analysis of atmospheric circulation in the Tibetan Plateau. Forecast model optimization, meteorological climatology research, pollutant transport analysis, etc. provide important equipment and data support, laying a solid foundation for my country to continue to lead the scientific research on atmospheric processes and environmental changes on the Tibetan Plateau.

Construction status of laser radar points of the three-dimensional comprehensive observation and research platform


The Wind3D series Doppler wind lidar effectively solves the environmental adaptability problems under harsh conditions such as low temperature, extreme cold, high altitude, and low pressure. Based on the characteristics of the plateau's clean atmospheric environment, it develops ultra-low noise coherent mixing technology and signals. The processing algorithm effectively improves the detection signal-to-noise ratio, ensures data accuracy and high acquisition rate, and highlights the excellent performance of the equipment.


Up to now, the Doppler wind lidar equipment deployed by Laser Testing on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is operating stably, achieving continuous observation of all-weather, high spatial and temporal resolution, and high-precision atmospheric profile data, and targeting typical weather under plateau conditions. The phenomenon has been effectively analyzed and has been highly praised by users.
